Contents
Levonorgestrel 150 mcg, ethinylestradiol 30 mcg, plus 7 non-hormonal tab
Dosage/Direction for Use
1 tab daily starting on the 1st day of menstrual bleeding starting from the red section of the pack & select the corresponding tab for that day of the wk.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Pregnancy; severe disturbances of liver function, jaundice or severe pruritus during pregnancy, Dubin-Johnson syndrome, Rotor syndrome, previous or existing liver tumors; history of or existing thromboembolic processes in arteries or veins & states which predispose to such diseases; sickle cell anemia; breast or endometrium cancer; severe diabetes w/ vascular changes; disturbances of lipometabolism; history of herpes of pregnancy, otosclerosis w/ deterioration during pregnancy.
Special Precautions
Diabetes, HTN, varicose veins; otosclerosis, multiple sclerosis; epilepsy, porphyria, tetany, chorea minor; history of phlebitis; cigarette smoking, advancing age, lactation. Benign & rarely malignant liver tumours which may lead to life-threatening intra-abdominal hemorrhage. Unusual upper abdominal complaints.
Adverse Reactions
Headache, gastric upset, nausea; breast tension; changes in body wt & libido; depressive moods; rarely, poor tolerance of contact lenses.
Drug Interactions
Barbiturates, phenylbutazone, hydantoins, rifampicin & ampicillin may impair the action of the drug. Requirement for oral antidiabetics & insulin can change.
